I saw the movie. They did a good job, but kind of set things up weird for the second movie. This blog said it better than me:click
The only thing I really missed was D11 sending the bread to Katniss. But I guess on film a riot is cooler. Blah. Obviously the book was better. That was the only gripe I has. And that they played down the horrific events of Cato’s death, and tried to make him look human in the end. But I guess if Collins was ok with it, I am too.
I just feel like the way Cato died in the book, with all that crazy armor on so the dogs were kicking his ass for hours till Kat shot him, really conveyed the horror and brutality of the games. I see how they couldn’t draw it out on film though. And they could have made the muttations creepier with the tributes eyes but I guess that translates to film poorly also.
And how is she gonna wow the judges in Catching Fire if they didn’t hang Crane? Will they still do that, since he was forced to eat the berries? That was a nice little touch and I didn’t mind the change but will Kat still be able to hang a dummy and write his name on it and have it make sense? Hmmm.
